Neurosurgery

The department of neurosurgery serves a population of approximately 3.5 million across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.  We also take referrals from further afield, as well as offering second opinions.

Operating theatre

Each year we have approximately:

  • 24,000 outpatient attendances
  • 2,500 elective admissions
  • 2,000 emergency admissions
  • 300 day case procedures

All the consultant neurosurgeons participate in the on call emergency service and degenerative spinal work. In addition to this all have areas of subspecialist interest.

Our subspecialties all incorporate multi-disciplinary teams that include neuroradiologists, neurologists, oncologists and other allied health professionals (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists) to provide patients with comprehensive neuroscience care.
