Information for pre-operative assessments

For certain planned surgery you may be asked to come into the hospital seven to ten days before treatment, for a pre-operative assessment.

This is to ensure that you are well enough to undergo the treatment and we have as much up-to-date information about you as possible.

The appointment with the nurse will last for about 45 minutes, and following this you may be required to undertake additional tests that may be deemed necessary in preparation for your admission, such as X-rays, blood tests, etc.

This will be explained to you at the pre-operative assessment.

We do try to keep your clinic appointment to schedule, but at times there may be a delay due to unforeseen circumstances in the clinic.

A DVD regarding your admission can be obtained at this appointment.
