What are the different Pain Management Programmes?

We offer several Pain Management Programmes. You can find out more information about each programme below.

5 Day PMP

The 5 day PMP accommodates the needs of patients with moderate levels of pain related disability and distress, utilising an MDT approach. Patients attending this group are often still in full or part time employment.

15 Day PMP

The 15 Day PMP is our intensive multidisciplinary self-management programme designed for adults with a range of chronic pain diagnoses; musculoskeletal and neuropathic conditions; and those who present with significant levels of pain related disability and distress. It consists of combined pain psychology, occupational therapy and physiotherapy rehabilitation run over six weeks, and is able to offer residential rehab options.

Specialist Pelvic PMP

This specialised programme provides focus for women with chronic pelvic pain, focussing on both key pain management strategies as well as in the area of female sexual health and functioning. There is additional emphasis placed within the physiotherapy aspects of this PMP on pelvic floor exercises and mindful movement.

Specialist Young Adult (YA) PMP

The YAPMP (with Residential option) is designed in the format of the 15 day PMP and is tailored to the specific needs of YAs (aged 16-30 years). Particular emphasis is placed on social, emotional and occupational development. This PMP maximises the use of multimedia modalities of treatment delivery and is linked with a Transition service to support patient engagement between child and adult services.

Specialist Facial PMP

This group based treatment supports the needs of patients with facial pain conditions (excluding headaches), where specific attention is paid to the impact of these conditions on everyday functioning: including eating, drinking, socialising (talking with others). Patients have the opportunity to share experiences with others diagnosed with similar conditions, which helps to normalise and validate their experiences.

Older Adult PMP (OASIS)

Patients often report finding it beneficial attending a PMP with others who are at a similar life stage. The Older Adult PMP (OASIS) covers core pain management strategies similar to other PMPs, but does so whilst being more tailored to the needs of older adults.
