Service detail

Within the Neurosurgery service there are 20 Consultant Neurosurgeons, five Consultant Orthopaedic surgeons and 27 specialist nurses working alongside allied health professionals (AHPs) to deliver specialist services at The Walton Centre and at nine satellites sites at partner trusts across Cheshire and Merseyside, the Isle of Man and Wales.

In normal circumstances the division is one of the busiest neurosurgical units in the UK, seeing approximately 9,800 new patients, 3,800 elective patients, and 1,700 emergency inpatients every year.

Mr Neil Buxton

Mr Neil Buxton is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at The Walton Centre.

Professor Andrew Brodbelt

Professor Andrew Brodbelt graduated from Liverpool Medical School before doing his basic surgical training in Merseyside and Manchester, and neurosurgical training at The Walton Centre. He did his PhD at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. 

Mr Farouk Olubajo

Mr Farouk Olubajo is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at The Walton Centre.

Mr Jibril Osman Farah

Mr Jawad Yousaf is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at The Walton Centre.

Professor Michael Jenkinson

Professor Jenkinson sub-specialises in neurosurgical oncology for intrinsic brain tumours including awake craniotomy and intra-operative brain mapping for low grade glioma, midline and endoscopic approaches to intraventricular and deep intrinsic tumours, and stereotactic radiosurgery.
