About Sumit Gulati

Dr. Sumit Gulati MD FRCA FFPMRCA EDRA is a Consultant in Pain Medicine at Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool, UK. He has been working in Pain management and Anaesthesia for over twenty years and remains passionate about helping patients in acute and chronic pain. He did advanced training in Pain Medicine in London and Leeds and has been practicing in Liverpool since 2013.

He performs Radiofrequency denervation of nerve endings for Spinal, Sacroiliac joint, Coccyx, Knee, Hip, Shoulder and peripheral nerve pain. He has led on the Acute Sciatica pathway and continues to offer a Spinal injection/root block service. He uses peripheral and spinal cord Neuromodulation for neuropathic and complex pain.

He routinely contributes to book chapters, research posters and publications in the field of Pain Medicine.

Clinical/research interests

Dr Gulati has a special interest in MDT management of Complex Spinal and Joint pain, Painful Peripheral neuropathies, Pudendal neuralgia, Male Pelvic pain. He has a keen interest in Safety of Interventional Pain practice and performs a range of Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy guided nerve blocks and injections in pain management.

Council member of British Pain Society from 2022

Chair of the Interventional Pain SiG of British Pain Society since 2019.

He is also e-Pain Librarian for the Faculty of Pain Medicine.
