About Nicholas Silver
Dr Nicholas Silver trained in neurology at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and The Royal London and Barts Health NHS Trust, London. He completed a four-year PhD in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, inflammatory neurological disorders and multiple sclerosis.
Dr Silver established the headache service at The Walton Centre in 2004 and since that time has expanded this service to include four headache subspecialist consultants and two clinical nurse specialists. He maintains a general neurology service and is active in transitional epilepsy care at Arrowe Park Hospital.
Dr Silver’s interests are in the management of severe and refractory headache disorders, non-headache symptoms and presentations of headache disorders, chronic migraine and trigeminal autonomic cephalgias, especially cluster headache and hemicranias continua. He has been a Principal and UK Chief Investigator for many clinical research studies in headache.
Dr Silver was the inaugural chair of the ABN Clinical Governance Committee, has served on the ABN Standards and Serviced Committee and maintains an interest in governance as Trust Lead for audit, NICE and the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD).
He also has interest in medicolegal expert witness practice (personal injury, clinical negligence and forensic).
