Requesting repeat prescriptions of specialist medicines from The Walton Centre

You have been prescribed a specialist medicine which must be prescribed and supplied by the hospital. Your medicine will be prescribed by a doctor or specialist nurse at The Walton Centre and dispensed by Lloyds Pharmacy within Aintree University Hospital.

For some medicines it may be possible for your GP to take over prescribing at a later date. Your doctor or specialist nurse will tell you if this applies to you.

To request a further supply of your specialist medicine please contact us at least three weeks before you will run out.  Please email your request  to wcft.prescriptionrequest@nhs.net

You will receive an automated reply to confirm your email has been received.  Emails are normally checked the following working day (Monday to Friday).

Alternatively you can phone 0151 556 4066. This phone will be answered between 2-3pm Monday to Friday by a pharmacy technician. At any other time please leave a message

Please include the following information in your email or voicemail request:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Name of medicine
  • Strength and form of medicine (such as tablets or liquid)
  • How much you are taking and how often
  • Whether you can collect the medicine from Lloyds Pharmacy or require it to be posted*

*Collection is preferred, but if this is difficult it is possible to post certain medicines. Please note that some medicines are not suitable for posting, and we are unable to guarantee how long it will take medicines to arrive in the post.

Lloyds Pharmacy will contact you when your prescription is ready. Lloyds Pharmacy is located on the main corridor of Aintree University Hospital, on the same campus as the Walton Centre.

If you have not heard anything after two weeks of requesting your prescription, please contact us again by email or phone and state it is urgent.

If you have any concerns or questions about your condition, how well your medicine is working or any side effects you may be experiencing, please contact the nurse advice line on 0151 556 4008.
