About Ganesh Bavikatte

Dr Ganesh Bavikatte is a consultant and clinical lead in the rehabilitation department at The Walton Centre in Liverpool, and honorary senior lecturer at The University of Liverpool. 

He specialises in traumatic brain injury, polytrauma rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, and stroke rehabilitation with subspecialty interests in hyperacute rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation and neurorehabilitation following complex injuries. He is an expert in using botulinum toxin for the treatment of spasticity. 

Dr Bavikatte runs neurorehabilitation, spasticity and combined neurotrauma clinics with neurosurgeons, psychology, and charity organisations. He manages patients in Level 1 hyperacute and Level 1b specialist rehabilitation units.  

As a clinical lead, he is also responsible for the day-to-day running of the service and specialist rehabilitation delivery as per the national standards. 

He is actively involved in undergraduate, postgraduate and multi and interdisciplinary teaching, audit, and research projects which have led to posters and publications on an international platform to raise specialist rehabilitation profile. He is the author of peer-reviewed journals and participates in professional societies including the British Society of Rehabilitation, and is the lead investigator for several research projects.
