Home from Home accommodation

Home from Home has been designed to offer the comforts of home to families who want or need to stay close to their loved one undergoing emergency or treatment at The Walton Centre. It is provided free of charge, thanks to funding from The Walton Centre Charity.

To enable us to support as many families as possible during the first and most difficult days after an admission, there is a criteria to use the facility. Families of patients following an emergency admission on Horsely Intensive Care Unit who live some distance from The Walton Centre take priority. One room per family can be requested for up to a maximum of four nights and guests are required to check out at 9.30am.

This accommodation consists of eight en-suite twin bedrooms including two larger rooms which are suitable for families and for those with a disability. Fresh clean towels and bed linen are provided.

The Fairclough Family Lounge offers comfortable sofas, a TV, kitchenette and dining area. This is to enable families to be able to have a space to relax and dine. There is also a quiet room which is very private and provides a space for relaxation and reflection. There is a fully equipped laundry room available which is free for guests to use to launder, dry and iron their clothes.

As this accommodation is a priority for the families of patients who require emergency/urgent treatment, pre-booking is not possible unless under exceptional circumstances.

The Walton Centre’s Home from Home is provided free to families thanks to our charity supporters. The aim is to take away some of the worry for relatives who need to focus on the wellbeing of a loved one in our care.
