About Christopher Whitehead

Dr Christopher Whitehead graduated from the University of Liverpool before training in Anaesthesia and Critical Care in the Mersey region. He was a Senior Registrar in Anaesthesia at Royal Perth Hospital in Australia and then a Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine at Aintree University Hospital, Liverpool. 

He has previously held the roles of Clinical Lead for Anaesthesia and Critical Care at The Walton Centre and Clinical Head of Anaesthesia and Critical Care, and Divisional Medical Director at Aintree University Hospital. 

Dr Whitehead has an MSc in Healthcare Leadership from the University of Birmingham and Manchester Business School, and an NHS Leadership Academy Award in Senior Healthcare Leadership. 

At The Walton Centre he is the Medical Appraisal Lead and the Clinical Director for Pain Medicine. He is also a Mentor for the NHS NW Leadership Academy Mentoring Hub and the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre and Critical Care mortality lead
