About Rasheed Zakaria
Mr Rasheed Zakaria trained in Neurosciences and Medical Science at Downing College, Cambridge University and in Clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford. He undertook foundation training in London before speciality training in Liverpool. This included three years as a full-time PhD funded by the Medical Research Council. He then completed a year of specialist oncology surgery training (brain, spine and skull base) in the USA at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston before returning to the UK.

Clinical/research interests
Mr Zakaria has a busy general neurosurgical practice including emergency management of trauma, degenerative cervical and lumbar spine disease, hydrocephalus and infection. His subspecialist practice is in neuro-oncology with clinical interest in the use of multi-modality intraoperative monitoring techniques for the resection of brain tumours. He has extensive experience with the use of awake craniotomy, motor mapping, 5-ALA, intraoperative MRI (iMRI) and ultrasound.
Mr Zakaria's research interests are in brain metastases, glioma, immunotherapy, and advanced brain tumour imaging.
