About David Carter
Mr David Carter is a Specialist Neurosurgeon at The Walton Centre. David completed his undergraduate and specialist training in Cape Town, South Africa, where he qualified as a Neurosurgical Consultant in 2002. He initially worked there in full time private practice at the Vincent Pallotti Hospital, performing all aspects of neurosurgery, but developing a particular interest in neurocritical care, cranial endoscopic surgery, especially pituitary disorders and spinal surgery.
David moved to the United Kingdom and started working at The Walton Centre in 2013. He initially worked as a member of the complex spine surgery team, but when he took on the role of Clinical Director for Neurosurgery he decided to focus on ‘non-complex’ spinal conditions. Prior to this, he was the Neurosurgical Division Clinical Governance lead for seven years. This has lead to a passionate interest in patient safety, culminating in his appointment as the Clinical Director for Quality and Patient Safety in 2024.
