Patient Pass
Please note, the Patient Pass site can only be accessed from a Trust device
Patient Pass is the new referral management system that has taken over from Orion, for all Neurosurgery Emergency, Neurology On Call and Neurology RANA referrals.
Referrals for advice on inpatients are screened daily by the respective teams, but for any time critical advice you can still follow any referral with a phone call to the on-call team via switchboard (0151 525 3611).
For neurosurgery referrals only: As of Wednesday 26 November 2025, at 08:30am, Orion has been turned off and no new referrals can be made through their system. All new referrals will need to be made through Patient Pass.
However, any existing referrals at this time will still be available on Orion until closed.
Referrals to Neurology On Call
Please be aware that when making a referral through Patient Pass to Neurology On Call, you will still need to follow the submitted referral up, with a telephone call.
If you do not follow up the submitted referral with a phone call, the referral will not be viewed or actioned.
If you cannot get through via the phone, then please try again. Our switchboard is: 0151 525 3611.
After 72 hours, if we have not heard from you, the referral will be closed.
