The Walton Centre has secured funding to revolutionise data-led research
In partnership with Liverpool Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Centre (LINC) and Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL), The Walton Centre is embarking upon a significant data infrastructure project initiated by funding from the North West Secure Data Environment's (NWSDE) Data Accelerator Fund for Novel and Emerging Assets (DAFNEA).
The 18-month project aligns to The Walton Centre's strategic objectives to deliver world-class clinical neuroscience research and innovation in collaboration with universities and commercial partners and build digital infrastructure to support the growth of research and innovation activity within a secure data environment.
The project aims to enhance research capacity and service planning by transforming currently underused specialist datasets into secure, research-ready resources to enable harnessing of assets including clinical notes, outcome measurement, test results, human tissue samples, imaging and prescribing data .
The project complements other digital infrastructure initiatives across the region, helping to ensure that health and care data is safely available for research to improve services, treatments and patient outcomes. The project is expected to strengthen partnerships between regional collaborators, attract new research collaborations and accelerate discoveries to improve patient care, reduce inequalities and inform service provision.
